Push the "Power" button if your TV has no picture. An Akai digital flat screen TV produces high-quality images for your home or office. After several uses, you might experience a few problems with power outages or picture loss. Flat screen TV power issues can be remedied with reconnecting cables, properly powering the remote control, or simply resetting TV defaults. Navigating a few steps and performing basic maintenance will have your Akai working like new in little time and will save you money and frustration. Power Cord Step 1 Turn the TV around, so that the back panel is easily accessible. Step 2 Examine the connection from the power cord to the "AC In" jack on the back panel. Step 3 Unplug the power cord from the jack, and inspect the metal contacts for dirt or grime. If the contacts on the cord or jack are dirty, clean them with a dry cleaning cloth. Step 4 Plug the power cord firmly into the "AC In" jack. Inspect the entire length of the power cord for damage, like cuts, dents, or tears. If the cord is damaged, replace it. Step 5 Unplug the pronged end of the power cord from the AC wall outlet. Step 6 Plug a separate electrical device into the wall outlet, and turn it on to confirm that the outlet is functioning properly. Step 7 Unplug the electrical device, and plug the Akai power cord back into the wall outlet. Remote Control Batteries Step 1 Push down on the battery cover on the remote with your thumbs, and remove the remote battery cover. Step 2 Remove the batteries from inside the chamber; dispose of them properly. Step 3 Inspect the inside of the battery chamber for dirt, corrosion or grime. If you see corrosion on the metal contacts, clean them with a dry cleaning cloth. Step 4 Replace the old batteries with two new AA batteries, installed correctly them in the compartment. Step 5 Verify the batteries' polarity with the polar indicators printed on the inside of the chamber. Improperly installed batteries will render a remote control inoperative. Use the remote to power the Akai TV. Step 6 Replace the battery cover, until it audibly clicks into place. Us it to power on the Akai TV. Cable Connection Step 1 Turn the TV around, so the back is facing you. Step 2 Inspect the cable connection to the "Cable In" jack on the back panel of the Akai TV. Step 3 Unscrew the 75-ohm coaxial cable from the jack, and inspect the connectors for grime. If the metal connectors are dirty, clean the contacts with a dry cleaning cloth. Step 4 Reconnect the cable to the "Cable In" jack by screwing it securely around the threads of the jack. Step 5 Inspect the length of the cord for damage, such as cuts or tears. Replace the cable if it's damaged. Step 6 Unscrew the cable from your cable source wall outlet or receiver, inspect the metal contacts for grime, and then screw it back into place tightly.
